Nylah Newborn shoot - October 2016

Hello again!

I wanted to show an example of a newborn shoot with a 3 1/2 week old baby. For various reasons, Nylah's parents chose to postpone the photoshoot of their newborn daughter. Although not 'ideal' for a photographer, I wanted to show that it's not all bad news.

Nylah was VERY alert, and from the moment I walked into this families home, I could tell that this would not be an easy job. Light was an issue, as can be the case in London when you are overlooked by other buildings, be we made it work. It soon became apparent however that Nylah herself was not going to make my day easy either.

As a 3 1/2 week old baby, she had grasped that she didn't wish to be naked, and did not wish to be put down when she was awake. This is all common behaviour for a baby her age. We decided that a walk and some family shots would be a good plan of action, and although it felt like the odds were stacked against us (All the green spaces were locked up to the public)we found a small public park near Victoria station.

After a lot of worry and mild stress on my part, I believe we made the best of a difficult day and we created images which will be cherished by the family forever.
